WORK / SONIC LAB / 2026–ONGOING

SONIC
LAB

Playable systems for sound, rhythm, space, voice, visualization, environmental listening, and compositional research.

STUDY

A focused investigation of one relationship or behavior.

EXPERIMENT

A test of a particular question, condition, or hypothesis.

PROTOTYPE

A working implementation of an instrument, interface, or system.

01 / WORKING INDEX

Enter the lab at the level the work actually occupies.

Study, experiment, and prototype are release classes—not rankings of importance or polish. Related versions are grouped when they belong to the same line of inquiry.

02 / USE + CONTEXT

The interface is the directory. The instrument keeps its own behavior.

SONIC LAB sits inside the MZCMG site shell, but opening a build enters its native interface. This keeps the collection legible without forcing every experiment into one visual language.

RELEASE PRACTICE

Build the tool → make with it → document the inquiry → distribute the tool alongside the work.

DEVICE NOTES

“Desktop best,” “mobile best,” or similar guidance appears only when it is reasonably clear from the build. The rest remain intentionally unclassified until tested.

ROUGH EDGES

Known incompleteness is part of the public record. A usable experiment does not need to pretend to be finished software.
